Perfit Mouse Optical

The New Perfit Mouse Optical (PMO) evolves from the original patented shape, maintaining the integrity of the time-tested form while adding new productivity enhancing features. The new optical version adds the latest technology to the unique design of the original Perfit Mouse. A high precision optical sensor provides excellent cursor control. The PMO places a scroll wheel above the thumb support, rather than on the top of the mouse to reduce the strain on the index finger, which is already heavily used for the primary mouse click. At the bottom of the integrated Thumb Support is the innovative two-position side rocker switch, which gives quick and effortless access to two additional programmable buttons.

The original Perfit Mouse, introduced in 1995, has provided over 100,000 users with unparalleled comfort and performance. In some instances, the Perfit Mouse is the only solution for eliminating or reducing hand and wrist discomfort while maintaining a high level of productivity.

Specifications
  • 800dpi Precision Optical Tracking - twice the tracking precision of many other optical mice
  • Multiple Sizes for both left and right hands - available in small, medium, large and extra-large for the right hand and small, medium, large for the left hand
  • Sculpted Elevated Buttons - this reduces excessive load on the fingertips and enables the hand to remain open with the fingers extended in a ready position for quick button activation
  • Thumb Support with Integrated Scroll Wheel & Two Position Rocker Switch - gives the user added support, control and comfort, which allows user to move the mouse with reduced pinch force. The Scroll Wheel provides scrolling and the two position rocker switch provides access to additional repetitive commands. (The light touch internal switches are designed not to require pinch force to activate. The switches "click" with a very slight forward or backward motion of the thumb. The switch "rocker" is rubber coated and textured to provide maximum grip, with little effort.
  • Elevated Wrist Support - reduces pressure on the wrist by keeping it off the desk top and maintains a straighter wrist alignment while minimizing lateral deviation. Balances the hand in a more neutral, tilted posture. Prevents static grip by allowing the hand to rock freely.
  • Programmable Software – the software enables users to customize the Perfit Mouse Optical and accomplish tasks faster and easier. Set the buttons individually.

System Requirements
  • Supports both PS2 and USB (USB to PS/2 adapter included - Contour Designs strongly recommends you use USB connection rather than the PS2 adapter)
  • Works with the operating system's (OS) built-in drivers on most ports
  • Drivers are provided with additional features
  • Linux OS supported by OS level driver on PC & Mac machines
  • Compatibility: Windows 95, 98, 2000, and XP

Actual User Comments

“The Contour Mouse is, without a doubt, the most comfortable mouse I have used. It fits like a glove. The Contour Mouse addresses a fundamental principle of Ergonomics, anthropometric differences, through offering different sizes. The Contour Mouse also offers several sizes for left-handed users. Although a single Contour Mouse is not able to be used by ambidextrous users, both a left-handed and right-handed Contour Mouse can be connected to a PC with a simple switchbox so a user can alternate hands, reducing the mousing exposure by 50%.” - Michael F. Lostetter, Ergonomist, Intel Corp.

“Excellent design - no signs of wrist soreness, even after extended use!” - Dave VanHarn, Chevron Corporation

“Well-designed, sensible product that addresses the profound variation in human anatomy that exists in the world, a real antidote to the "one size fits all" mentality that diminishes so many products distributed today. A marked improvement for a necessary part of computing today.” - Chris Martin, Research Instructor, University of North Carolina

“I have used every type mouse, and always wound up with hand cramps -- but NEVER since I started using Contour.” - Edward M., Newspaper Columnist

“It is rare that a product really lives up to its advertising hype, especially when it is supposed to do something as nebulous as make your hand or arm "feel better." I had been using a Microsoft mouse (the old "Dove bar" shape) eight to ten hours per day for last six years. Suddenly, about 4 months ago, I noticed my hand and forearm muscles were stiff and sore. Within a day or two, I could barely move my hand after using the mouse for only a few minutes. I rearranged my work station so the keyboard, mouse, chair and monitor were at the right height, etc., etc., according to all the ergonomic diagrams. Slight improvement. Next I bought a new (Logitech) mouse, then two different trackballs. No improvement. with any of them. I was beginning to worry that I would not be able to use a computer any more—a scary thought since my entire livelihood depends on it. About 3 months ago I noticed an ad for the Contour Mouse. I ordered one. It took several days to get accustomed to using it. But soon I noticed that the pain and soreness was diminishing. Within a week the pain was gone and it has not returned. I highly recommend this product to anyone who uses a mouse more than occasionally. Congratulations for making such a great product!” - David Wilkerson, Wilkerson Design Associates

"Our first line of defense for wrist pain the Contour Perfit Mouse. It encourages them to mouse in a more correct posture. It prevents 'wind shielding' (wrist deviation back and forth like a windshield wiper)." - Kathy P., Ergonomist, BP

“This mouse has greatly helped other employees in my department. It only makes sense to consider hand size when designing an ergonomic mouse.” – Barbara Cassinelli, Northrop Grumman

"We use the Contour Mouse, because it comes in multiple sizes and accommodates a wide range of people and it has the most consistent positive results and customer satisfaction of any input device we have ever tested before (this includes trackballs, touchpads and tablets.)" - Julie Kregar King, Manager, Environmental Health & Safety Program, Silicon Graphics, Inc.
