Forklift drivers: seated eye heights and viewing distance Jun 24, 2011 08:08 AM
(Total replies: 0)
Hi - I am looking for as much info/ research on forklift drivers and the required sitting eye height, load stacking heights and visual blind spots. For example, a driver has a seated eye height of 115cm (measured from floor of forklift 'cockpit' to line of site). He's requried to move a load 190cm high off the ground. If a person of average height walks in front of the load, the driver can only see this person from 4m in front of the forklift.. If the stacking height in increased by 30cm - he can only see a person 10m ahead of the load in motion. Therefore, there is a very large blindspot. I need to calculate the minumum seated eye height in order to reduce the 10m blind spot to <4m. Any takers?

Why are some people so reluctant to invest in Ergonomics Mar 2, 2009 06:36 AM
(Total replies: 2)
Hello! I am currenlty consulting for a firm in South Africa (the only 100% Ergonomics Consultancy) and it worries me how reluctant people are to oinvest in Ergonomics. I have several approaches that I like to use when explaining the benefits of Ergonomics, however I would really appreciate guidance in terms of putting together a proposal clearly indicating the benefits on a monetary scale. If there is any research available on the South Africa market or other industrially developing countries I would be so grateful if you could point me in the right direction! Kind Regards, Sally |
