Software for Office Drawings May 26, 2005 06:47 AM

I have recently learned to use the engineering software program AutoCAD. Although as a whole this is a very complex program, doing simple line drawings in this program is not very difficult. The advantage of using AutoCAD is that you can easily set the dimensions of the room and the furniture in the room so you will have a very accurate drawing. I did not have any formal training using AutoCAD and I was able to learn to do simple drawings relatively quickly. Good luck! Jana Lee

Good morning, I work for a company that designs and manufactures consoles for control centres. At present our company is thinking about targeting the banking industry. If we decide to go this route I will be doing a great deal of research into ergonomics in bank-telling. If you are looking for a design and manufacturing vendor to provide height-adjustable ergonomically bankteller workstations, please let me know and I can put you in touch with our sales and management team. Have a good day, Jana Lee Tryan

Fixed Height Worksurface Apr 27, 2005 03:33 PM
(Total replies: 1)
Good Afternoon Everyone, I was just wondering if anyone could give me some clarification on the BSR/HFES 100 Standard regarding worksurface height. Is my understanding correct that to be compliant with this standard the surface on which the worksurface sits MUST (or in there terminology SHALL) be adjustable between 560mm and 1180mm? Therefore, is it not acceptable, according to this standard, to provide a fixed height worksurface with an adjustable chair and footrest? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Jana Lee Tryan

Good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone could direct me to some resources on International Ergonomic Standards for offices or control centres. I am very familiar with the ISO standards. I am hoping to find some more specific to Eurpoe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Thanks for your help. Jana Lee

Keyboard Tray Pinch Points Jan 10, 2005 02:20 PM
(Total replies: 1)
Happy New Year.... I was wondering what the acceptable distance was between an input support surface (keyboard tray) and a fixed surface to avoid a potential "pinch-point". In the situation I am considering, the keyboard tray is cut into the fixed worksurface. I am looking for the minimum separation that is required between these surfaces. Is there a particular guideline or standard that I could reference? As a second question...what is the minimum depth for a keyboard tray? Thanks for your input, Jana Lee Tryan Ergonomics Specialist Evans Consoles Corp.

Negative Tilt Keyboard Trays - What about the mouse? Dec 21, 2004 09:55 AM
(Total replies: 4)
Seasons Greetings, I would like to further the discussion of negative tilt on keyboard trays. I have read the posted remarks regarding the effects of a negatively sloped keyboard on touch typing activities, however, I was wondering if anyone had come across any research regarding the effect that a negative slope has on mousing. To further this, I was wondering what solutions you might have to properly position the mouse when the keyboard tray has a negative slope. In addition, what are your feelings regarding a positive keyboard slope when sitting in a reclined seating position. I appreciate your comments and suggestions. Enjoy the holiday season.
