Universities looking to benefit from proper ergonomic seating now have a chance to win $10,000 in ergonomic chairs from leading ergonomic seating manufacturer Neutral Posture, Inc. The company is launching a Facebook promotion inviting college students, faculty, alumni and friends to join the National Ergonomics Months Event for their favorite university. Each confirmed attendee to a University’s National Ergonomics Month event on Neutral Posture’s Facebook group page (www.facebook.com/igoergo) from October 1, 2009 through November 30, 2009 will count towards the overall event attendance. The school with the most attendance at their event at the end of November will win $10,000 worth of ergonomic chairs from Neutral Posture.

National Ergonomics Month, as designated by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, is an opportunity to promote the science and benefits of ergonomics to the public. October is the designated month in the US, and November in Canada. “We strive to educate on the benefits of proper ergonomic seating year round, and National Ergonomics Month allows us to spread the word on an even larger scale,” states Rebecca Boenigk, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Neutral Posture, Inc. “Once people make the switch to ergonomic seating and feel the difference in their bodies and comfort level, they see the long term value. Ergonomics truly benefits every body.”

Workers who sit for long periods of time without proper chair support are at greater risk of aches, pains, and injuries such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Research has shown, however, that ergonomic seating can help alleviate these ailments because it helps the body achieve a neutral posture, which is when there is equidistant spacing of the vertebrae and an ideal balance in the muscles, tendons and ligaments.

The winning school of Neutral Posture’s Facebook promotion will be contacted and announced on the company’s Facebook page and website.
