These Boots Are Made for Walking

Spending an hour walking in Viktor Gordejev’s boots could make a long hike feel like a walk in the park. Why? Because Gordejev’s boots are equipped with motors.

Gordejev's boots, inspired by long daily treks required of him during his time spent in the Russian military, work by propelling the wearer’s foot forward during each step. A step down with the left foot propels the right foot forward; a step down with the right foot pushes the left foot forward. According to Gordejev, the boots’ combustion engines can cut the wearer’s energy expenditures by about 70 percent.

Gordejev expects the boots to be on the market in Russia later this year and eventually worldwide.
